Hi, I’m Schuyler, I also go by Minh-Tri (Min-tree) and my neighbor calls me surfer dood not because I’ve ever surfed but because I fit the profile. Electronic music is sorely awesome to say the least. Especially Aphex Twin, Telefon Tel Aviv, TENDERLONIOUS, KYO-2, Andy Stott, Com Truise, Ebu, and The Avalanches. I also get a little jazzy and classical with The Breathing Effect and Toshifumi Hinata. I’m very imaginative as I am an artist extremely dedicated to the creation of greatness. My work is my play, but I play hard lol. One goal I have is to be established as a full time freelance artist by the time I am released. I appreciate learning about stuff, pretty much anything. However, my focus has been on paleontology, archeology, art, self-help/spirituality, philosophy, technology, history, entrepreneurship, exploration and nature. My top 3 movie genres are surrealism, comedy and sci-fi. My top 3 movies are 2001: A Space Odyssey, Monty Python’s Meaning of Life, and What Has Bodhi Dharma Left for the East? The majority of what I read is nonfiction and when I read fiction it’s usually realistic or manga or a comic book. I have a history with Buddhism. I’m on the fence with it though and I’m definitely not Christian. I meditate daily and I read Buddhist books here and there. I have a great love for the East of which I’ve never been. The essay “Killing the Buddha” by Sam Harris convinced me the most useful parts of Buddhism is its sheer practicality. Why should anybody identify as Buddhist for just being practical? However I do have faith in Pureland worlds and reincarnation and Avalokiteshvara + a lil more. So am I a Buddhist? You decide. Umm, something else about me, I’m an extroverted introvert and I mean business. I love to exercise and I’ve immersed myself in yoga much much more since I’ve been incarcerated. I can do a basic backflip now… over and over again. I also start the day with a variation of sun salutations. Reach out to slowly discover the dark, humiliating and imperfect sides of myself.
